I have a very deep love affair with chips and dip. To me it is the ultimate comfort/relaxation food. Not exactly a healthy habit by any means, but I have always had stronger cravings for salty/crunchy rather than something sweet. My relationship to chips and dips has evolved dramatically over the years. Frito Lay French Onion Dip and a bag of Ruffle Lays used to be my go-to chips and dip. I can’t tell you how many nights I had chips and dip for dinner when I was stressed or sad.
Those nights are very, very rare, but old habits die hard and my tendency towards chips and dips is still there. But now instead of buying crap food versions and binging on it and calling it my “dinner”, I will eat a healthy dinner first and then this is my dessert or snack after dinner, so I don’t eat as much.
And instead of buying dip, I will make some myself and choose a healthier, organic chip or cracker.
