Oh, how we love hamburgers in this house. My Argentinian husband is the consumate meat-and-potatoes guy. Penelope has always been a huge fan of animal protein, and I – a once vegetarian/vegan turned grass fed, locally farmed meat lover, love them too.
Whenever we make hamburgers I always double the recipe and freeze some patties for the nights I don’t have a slow cooker freezer recipe meal ready and I need a quick, grain free dinner. I make us normal-sized patties, but then I also make Penelope a bunch of baby-sized patties too.
The baby-sized patties are perfect for throwing into her lunch box on the days she stays for lunch. She has never had a problem with eating food room temperature or cold. They are great for me too! If I am running out the door and don’t have time for lunch, I can pop one of these babies out of the freezer and into my convection oven and by the time I am done getting dressed I can take it in the car with me, with an apple and Dave’s GT Kombucha and bam, lunch in car like a boss (I do not recommend eating in the car on a regular basis, but this plan of action is a whole lot better than careening into the Chick-Fil-a parking lot an hour or two later because you are so hungry you can’t see or think straight!)
I have made lots of different kinds of hamburger patties, but the majority of the time we just do salt, pepper, chopped garlic and a couple of dashes of worchestire sauce. It’s amazing what just buying good quality meat will do for taste. I get my meat from a local farmer and there is always lots of fat in the meat, no lean ground beef up in this house.
What’s your favorite go to hamburger patty recipe? Do you ever freeze baby patties like me?
