Pumpkin Smoothie

I love all things pumpkin: pumpkin cookies, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin pie. Do you see the problem? All my pumpkin involves a baked good full of sugar.

My friend posted a picture of a pumpkin smoothie and I knew I needed to try my hand at one.

I pinned a bunch of pumpkin smoothie recipes but none of them seemed quite right for me. Here is why… I hate bananas.

There I said it.

I hate the texture of them, the mushy gross me out texture. But they are so good for you so I try to hide them in smoothies. Some of the recipes I found had lots of bananas – not gonna work for me. I kind of just combined a few recipes and winged it.

Pumpkin Smoothie

  • Scoop of pumpkin puree, I used probably about a cup.
  • One frozen applesauce
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of greek yogurt
  • Enough almond milk (or milk of choice) to get things moving. I used vanilla almond milk so if you don’t you may need to add some vanilla or maybe a little sweetener (whatever you like most)
  • Ice if you want it more icy (the frozen applesauce works for this)
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

┬áIt is yummy, nutritious deliciousness! And I even had enough for another one the next day – score! Pumpkin pie-esque in a glass? Sign me up!

What a delicious pumpkin idea! I’ve found myself writing quite a bit about pumpkins this year as they are so nutritious, yet usually found in recipes heavy with sugar. Thanks for sharing this.

Can you do coconut yogurt or keifer? That is always a good replacement.
