Take Them A Meal is one of those genius inventions that you wish you had known about sooner because it is a such a huge time-saver.

If you haven’t heard yet, is a way you can systemically organize meal drop offs for a person in need. Whether it is because of a birth or death in the family or any reason a friend may need a break from cooking dinner for her family for a bit.

Once you create a page for your friend, then all you have to do is email the link to friends, or nowadays simply post on Facebook! Then people can go to the site and sign up for a delivery date. Usually on the page created, there is info at the top of the page that has address, directions, good times for drop offs and any family allergies or food preferences.

I first found out about the website through the Junior League. One year, about half of my committee members were pregnant. It was like a second job just making meals and delivering them, but at least we had to help organize everything. And now combined with my slow cooker freezer recipes, delivering a meal is a breeze. I just pull something out of the freezer and bam! Drop it off and I am done.

I recently got to connect with one the founders of, Adina. Such a wonderful woman. They came up with the idea when a close family friend collapsed from a heart condition. Their phone was ringing off the hook and the task of coordinating meals was so overwhelming. They are thrilled that their website has helped so many people. They do not have any ads on their site and the website is totally funded by contributions of people who love the site and the idea.

Later they came up with, a great way to organize large potlucks so that not everyone is bringing dessert.

Take a moment and bookmark their page, like them on Facebook, and share this very useful tool with your friends!
