Five Fall Fashion Must-haves – on the Cheap!

What’s up, Mamas! I’ve been MIA around here for awhile, you know, birthing babies and what-not. I will soon be filling you in on all the stories of bed rest, gestational diabetes – and my crazy birth story!

So despite being in post-partum land, I am officially forcing Fall into my life. I kid you not, I am already pining for my first pumpkin spice latte of the season. I will be promptly buying some cinnamon brooms, and Fall porch decorating is already on my mind.

In the spirit of the impending fall, I thought I would share with y’all what I think are 5 of the season’s must-haves but at a more average price point. I am not shopping Bergdorf’s here, people, I am thinking more like Target and Old Navy.

Let’s get to it!

Fall 2013 Must Haves

1. Denim Vest
So maybe you invested in a demin vest last season and wore it with maxis and dresses, well guess what? I am totally dragging my denim vest into fall. I will be pairing it with long sleeved dresses and boots, or over a flannel shirt. Don’t pack it away – it can still work! And they are great at hiding post partum bellies. Not that they should be hidden, but y’all know what I mean.

2. Military inspired pieces
For me I think the most wearable option will be an army green jacket, one I can dress up or down.

3. Over the Knee Boots
Hmmm now I am 5’3 and lets be real- a little chunky, so for me this may or may not work. I won’t know until I try. This would probably be a date night look for me, maybe with mini skirt and some tights. But if you find the perfect pair with a flat heel and everyday vibe these could possibly replace your riding boots this season.

4. Plaid or red tartan
Obviously this could also work for Chistmas, but maybe you could wrap a plaid flannel shirt around your waist for a throwback to the grunge days. I love an oversized plaid shirt with some jeans and riding boots. For some reason my husband gets all hot and bothered by that combo. (And yes, we are already back in the sack at six weeks postpartum – another post I got coming for ya!)

5. Loafers
Loafers are here to stay this season or smoking shoes as I have heard them refered to as. I found some great ones at Target last year that I’m excited to wear this year. As a busy mom this is a plus because they are flats and super comfortable…SCORE!

What are you most excited to wear this fall? I think Stephanie is excited about some leather/pleather pieces, and I happen to know for a fact, those get her husband hot and bothered. 🙂
