Grain-Free Family Table

GFFT 1

Carrie Vitt, of Deliciously Organic, just came out with a new cookbook and it is fabulous! I met Carrie online earlier this year, she lives in North Florida just like me! She is a super kind and loving mama and an amazing chef. She get’s it honest, her mama is a long time caterer!

Carrie’s first cookbook was full of grains, but upon being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease (Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis) in 2008, she chose a grain-free, nutrient-dense diet to help her body heal.

And lo and behold she did! She totally healed her self with food, and alternative healing modalities.

So this new cookbook is ALL grain-free, and it’s called Grain-Free Family Table,  She has dairy in lots of her recipes, but was nice enough to take the time to add in, very specific, non-dairy replacements for folks who are dairy-free like me (although one day I do hope to heal my dairy allergy, so I can enjoy it again.)

It has over 125 delicous recipes. I have already made a couple (her Apricot Zingers are amazeballs) and I can’t wait to make more!!

I adore Carrie! She has such yummy recipes. I haven’t read your blog for long enough to know much about you or your daughter’s milk allergy, but my daughter has a severe peanut allergy and we are going to be starting oral immunosupressive therapy soon. It’s basically a process where microscopic amounts of the allergen are given in very controlled doses and a tolerance is built up over time to the allergen until the person actually has to consume some of it daily in order to keep their immunity. It’s pretty fascinating to me! I don’t know where you are located, but there are only a few doctors across the U.S. that are doing it, but they have had a lot of success. Our doctor mostly deals with peanut allergies and other nuts, but I know he has been successful with dairy allergy, too. Just a thought. We are really hopeful that this will work for our daughter, and I would love to see it help so many more people!
